The Trouble With Concrete Rings
This influx of deteriorating concrete rings is partly due to the age of the rings, but it is also the result of the salt and chemicals used to clear snow and ice during the winter months. Unfortunately, concrete and mortar rings were never intended to stand up to these types of chemicals. Often times, concrete and mortar rings will:
- Crack under harsh conditions
- Need to be kept out of sunlight during storage
- Deteriorate due to prolonged salt and chemical exposure
- Cause safety issues due to their weight
