I&I ElimiNATION 2021 Workshop Recap

We are thrilled that we were able to attend, and present at, the UCT Pre-Conference Workshop, I&I elimiNATION this past July. The workshop took place in Nashville, and focused on solving the I&I challenges that many public works, municipalities and utilities face. The focus for those in attendance was exploring the root causes of infiltration and inflow into sewer systems, the destructive impacts upon sewer pipelines, and looking at potential solutions.

The workshop included speakers across multiple industries, including Lee Haessig from Cretex Specialty Products. Lee presented on the topic of “Devices to Mitigate I&I in Sanitary Sewer Manholes”. His presentation revolved around the range of “devices” that can be used to stop inflow and infiltration in existing sanitary sewer manholes as well as prevent it in new manholes. The presentation included an overview of the PRO-RING, the only manhole grade adjustment system made from Expanded Polypropylene (EPP).

While attendance was lower than previous years, those that did attend were both engaged and interested in learning how to prevent, or stop, inflow and infiltration in their city.

For those that were not able to attend in person, keep an eye on the UCT website. The entire event was recorded and will be made available for free on their website.
