It’s Time To Stop Using Concrete Rings

Many public works departments and municipalities come to us with a similar issue – deteriorating concrete and mortar rings due to road salt and chemicals. Many of our recent on-site product demonstrations were due to deteriorating concrete rings, which in-turn caused infiltration issues along with wasted time and money.

Concrete Rings Do Not Last Forever

This influx of deteriorating concrete rings is partly due to the age of the rings, but it is also the result of the salt and chemicals used to clear snow and ice during the winter months. Unfortunately, concrete and mortar rings were never intended to stand up to these types of chemicals. Often, concrete and mortar rings will:

  • Crack under harsh conditions, or transport
  • Need to be kept out of sunlight during storage
  • Deteriorate due to prolonged salt and chemical exposure
  • Cause safety issues due to their weight

EPP Rings Stand Up To Harsh Conditions, And Time

If a prospective customer contacts us and mentions deterioration due to salt or chemicals, introduce them to the PRO-RING adjustable grade ring system. PRO-RINGs are made of Expanded Polypropylene (EPP), which is known for its ability to stand up to the harshest of conditions without damage. In other words, the PRO-RING is:

  • Chemical and salt resistant
  • UV resistant
  • Durable and will not crack or break
  • Lightweight
  • Renowned for its strength-to-weight ratio

The PRO-RING does everything that a concrete ring was never intended to do. And, because it can handle the environment, will not crack, and is extremely durable, it stops inflow and infiltration in its tracks…for good. All of these benefits mean that time and money can be saved.
